FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How do I register for your workshops?

  • Complete our online registration form.
  • Email the title and date of the course you wish to attend along with your name, position, department, phone number and email address.

2. How will you confirm my registration?

Once your registration has been received and processed by the CEC, we will confirm your registration via email. A PDF attachment consisting of your invoice will be included. Please allow 1-2 business days for processing upon submitting your registration.

3. What are your methods of payment?

Our accepted methods of payment are VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, cheque and direct deposit. Credit card payments can be made by phone by calling Josef Jurkovic at 613-769-0613. Cheques are payable to The Centre for Excellence in Communications, 1282 Fairway Drive, Ottawa, ON K4M 1B3. To set up direct deposit, please email the appropriate forms to payments@comcec.com

Course fees are due within thirty days of attending a workshop. Interest will be charged on unpaid accounts after thirty days.

4. What is your cancellation policy?

Full refund provided notification of a cancellation is submitted in writing to us at least six business days prior to the workshop you are scheduled to attend. Cancellations made during the six business days prior are liable for the full amount of the registration fee.

5. What if I have to reschedule?

If you are unable to attend a workshop for which you are registered, the CEC will transfer your registration to the next available offering of the same workshop at no cost to you provided you inform us in writing at least six business days prior to the workshop.

6. Can I substitute someone to attend in my place?

Yes. If you can no longer attend and would like to send someone in your place, please contact us as soon as possible with the following information for the person who will be taking your place:

  • Name
  • Position
  • Organization, Department
  • Phone Number
  • Email

7. What if I don't turn up for the course?

If you do not show up for a workshop for which you are registered, you are liable for the entire registration fee. Payment is due within 30 days of the workshop for which you were scheduled to attend.

We realize that sometimes things come up beyond your control. When "life" happens and you miss a workshop, please remit your payment and we will transfer your registration to the next available offering of the same workshop.

8. What if the workshop I'm scheduled to attend is cancelled?

If a workshop is cancelled, you will be asked to choose one of the following:

  • Transfer your registration to the next available session of the same workshop;
  • Transfer your registration to another workshop offered by the CEC;
  • Cancel your registration and CEC will issue you a refund (if applicable).

9. What times do courses start and finish?

Courses normally run from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, on consecutive mornings.

10. What materials will I receive at the course?

You will receive digital copies of the workshop PPT, participant handouts and exercises.

11. Do you offer in-house training?

Any CEC course can be delivered to your group at your location. To obtain information or discuss your requirements,
contact us.

12. What if we have to cancel an in-house course?

Our cancellation policy for in-house workshops is as follows:

  • 14+ days prior to scheduled workshop date - no charge
  • 7-13 days prior to schedule workshop date - 50% of workshop development and delivery fee(s)
  • 0-6 days prior to scheduled workshop date - 100% of workshop development and delivery fee(s)

13. Do you customize or develop courses?

We customize existing courses and we develop new courses to meet our clients' requirements. To obtain information or discuss your requirements, contact us.

14. Do you offer any courses in French?

Open-registration workshops are available in English only; however, the majority of our workshops can be delivered in French on an in-house basis.

15. What about follow-up questions after a course?

You can ask the instructor questions after the course through the CEC by emailing them to information@comcec.com.

16. What about post-workshop support?

17. Do you provide a certificate?

Certificates of completion are distributed at the conclusion of open-registration workshops. No certificates are issued for in-house workshops unless specifically requested by the client.

18. What is the CEC's privacy policy?

Any information received from CEC workshop registrants is exclusively for CEC administrative and instructional purposes and not shared with any outside organization(s).

19. What about copyright and intellectual property?

All copyrights, patents, designs and other intellectual property rights in or relating to any course materials provided or made available in connection with our courses remain the sole property of the CEC and its associates . No part of any course materials may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise, or translated into any language, without the prior written permission of the CEC.

20. How do you assess the effectiveness of your courses?

Course particpants are asked to complete an evaluation questionnaire at the conclusion of the course.
